On sale for $1.99 until release day!
Ann, not Annie, is tired of her nominal existence and has vowed to turn things around by dating the hottest guy in school, Jacob Waters. Easier said than done since Jacob isn’t even aware she exists. The truth is, due to Ann’s lively temper she spends more time in detention with the rest of the school rejects than she does fantasizing about Jacob Waters wearing spandex.
Her best friend and devout alien believer, Lisa, doesn’t like the changes she’s seeing in her BFF. Neither does Danny Feller, a fellow detention inmate and resident lost boy who has started keeping an extra watchful and unwanted eye on Ann.
When a chance encounter in an empty hallway changes everything, Ann finds all her dreams coming true and she is well on her way to living the perfect life she’s always wanted. But appearances aren’t always what they seem and Ann is going to have to face not just cold hard facts, but also her past.

Not everyone can be the nice girl who spreads love and sunshine. Sometimes, you have to have the bad girl, who isn't really all that bad, just doesn't fit the mold of "normal" very well. That's basically Ann.
She's loud, opinionated, and actually wants what everyone else wants - to be accepted, and respected. While she goes about getting it in ways that make her friends nervous, it helps her grow up. She has to face a lot, not only while going through changes to try and be the person she always wanted to be, but also realizing the consequences for being that person. It's something most people go through to some degree, but Ann does it with flare.
I think my favorite part about this book, was how it was written. Instead of being from Ann's point of view, we are told about it from a mysterious source, which is fascinating. The author did a wonderful job in assembling this story, making it unique, and creating an overall awesome coming-of-age story.
My only complaint, was the amount of foul language. About half way through the book, I had a "alright already, that's enough" moment, which I don't have often. I don't have the cleanest of mouths myself, but it gets to be a bit much sometimes, in books like these, especially when there are other things to focus on, and important lessons being explored.
It is also important to note, for parents, that this book does contain subject that might not be suitable for younger audiences. I would rate this PG-17, for scenes including the aforementioned language, alcohol, sexual references, and sexual assault. While I enjoyed the realistic nature, not everyone may be interested in that, so just be aware.
I would definitely recommend this book, and will enjoy it many more times, I'm sure.
